GOAL +5,000 TREES
The area where we will carry out the reforestation is called Parc del Comú, the epicenter of the 2016 fire. The goal for our project is to improve the air and soil quality, reduce the risk of flooding, and increase biodiversity by recovering indigenous species, such as the holm oak, the carob or the Aleppo pine.
We will accomplish this together with hundreds of neighbors and volunteers, and make this project a symbol of caring for our environment and a cleaner and purer air for Catalonia.
Calafell is located in the northern part of Spain’s Gold Coast, in the Baix Penedés region. It is the northernmost part of the province of Tarragona, bordering the province of Barcelona and only 60 km south of the city.
Its long stretch of white Mediterranean beaches is the reason thousands of visitors choose Calafell as the ideal place for a quick weekend getaway, a long vacation, or even to have the best of both worlds: live by the sea and work in the city.
POLLUTION AND BIODIVERSITY
The metropolitan area of Barcelona, with more than 3,500 pollution-related deaths a year, is one of the areas with the highest pollution rates.
Calafell also suffered a devastating fire in 2016 which burned 11 hectares of woodland very close to the municipality. This fire caused a significant amount of forest mass to disappear, as well as a large portion of the biodiversity of the Mediterranean forest.
YOUR TREE AND YOUR PHOTO
FEBRUARY - MARCH 2020
The next reforestation in Calafell will take place in february 2020, with the invaluable help of hundreds of neighbors and volunteers. We will plant the trees of all the customers who have chosen to help clean the air in Catalonia and recover the biodiversity it lost in the great fire and, together with our remaining projects, fight climate change.
We will send a photo of your tree, with the name you chose at checkout, before the end of March to the e-mail you provided.
